Free Fishing This Week
Looking to head out into the great outdoors this week? It’s National Free Fishing & Boating Week! This week has been celebrated annually since it was officially recognized with a presidential proclamation by President George W. Bush in 2002.
According to the website, takemefishing.org, there are many benefits to getting on the water for boating and fishing fun.
- Connect with family and friends. Make it a group outing for more fun!
- De-stress. Being in the water is generally a very relaxing activity for most people.
- Help Conserve. Did you know that fees from licenses go to help conservation of water and natural aquatic areas?
The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission sponsors a Free Fishing Weekend from June 7-9. This weekend Arkansas residents can fish in public waters without having a license. It’s a great opportunity to take the kids out for the first time to try to catch a big one. There are kids’ fishing derbies scheduled at the state’s five fish hatcheries this Saturday. The hatcheries are located in Hot Springs, Centerton, Corning, Lonoke and Mammoth Spring. Find out details HERE.
